Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Rausch-Rockman Funeral Chapel, with burial in Wayside Cemetery, both in Barron. William Ender DURAND- William A. Ender, 85, of Durand died September 29, 2002, at Plum City Care Center in Plum City, Wis. Bill was the son of August and Anna (Brunner) Ender.

He was born July 31, 1917, in Barron Wis. He moved with his parents to Chippewa Falls in 1922, and to Rice Lake in 1923, where his father was editor of the Rice Lake Chronotype. The family acquired newspapers in Neillsville in 1938, then settled permanently in Durand in 1940. "A graduate of Rice Lake schools, Bill acquired a journalism degree in 1939. from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

He was active on the campus in debate, band and the Society of Professional Journalists. After his duty as publisher of the Arcadia Leader in 1940, Bill was drafted for military duty April 7, 1941, and joined the 5th infantry division at Fort Custer, Michigan. Accepted for officer candidate school at Fort Knox in 1942, he was commissioned a lieutenant and assigned to the 4th armored division at Pine Camp, N.Y., where he became aide to the division commander, Maj. Gen. John S.

Wood. After duty in California and Texas, the division spent six months in England before wading ashore in France. The 4th armored division led American troops across France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, concluding WWII in Czechoslovakia. Following discharge in 1945, Bill worked at the Courier- Wedge in Durand until purchasing the Bloomer Advance. Then, he joined the Waukesha Freeman and Milwaukee Journal before becoming secretary to Congressman Glenn R.

Davis in Washington D.C. When his father suffered a heart attack, Bill returned permanently to the Durand newspaper. He became a founding stockholder and first secretary of the Durand Golf Club, a stockholder in the Durand Rod and Gun Club and served briefly as 3rd ward alderman. After joining the army reserves, he became commander of troops stationed in Eau Claire. Bill retired with the rank of major.

After being northwest director of Wisconsin Newspaper Association, he was elected president of the state association in 1970-71. After sale of the Durand newspaper in 1986, Bill was elected president of the Mid-America chapter of the 4th Armored Division Association in 1999 and was chosen a governor of the national association. The former June Perry Nyseth of Mondovi was married to Bill in 1980. "Bill. was proud to be an American.

He was strong, kind, friendly and had a warm heart. He will be missed by family, friends and colleagues." Bill is survived by one stepson, Perry (Diane) Nyseth of Mondovi; one stepdaughter, Mary (William) Hollister of Eau Claire; five stepgrandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Betty) of Madison; niece and nephews; and a very special Durand coffee group. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; and brother and former business associate, Carl Ender. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2002, at St.

Rose was born on July 12, 1901, in Withee, where she attended local schools. She married Frank Ciolkosz at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church on June 22, 1921. They lived in Chicago after their marriage, and then moved to Connecticut for five years. They moved to the Stanley area where they farmed until 1948.

He attended Korger-Chestnut Elementary School, Chippewa Falls junior High Schooi and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1978, where he played on the Chi-Hi football team. He played in Chippewa Falls Youth Hockey and was a member of the Chippewa Falls Raiders Hockey Team.

He was employed at C. T. Film until January 1980, when he moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming. He worked in the natural gas exploration field and then as a surveyor for an engineering firm. He moved back to Chippewa Falls in 1997.

He has been employed at Pliant Plastic Film Manufacturing Company since 1997. Mark married Sharon.A. Faschingbauer on May 5, 2000, in. Chippewa Falls. He was a member of United Steel Workers of America, Local 460, where he was a union steward and had served on the Employee Safety Committee.

She went to Lowes Creek Grade School and graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1961. Nancy married Richard A. Harrison on May 5, 1962, and he preceded her in death in 1985. She worked in the Eau Claire area all of her life. Nancy is survived by her children, Karolyn A.

He was born July 17, 1909, in Cero Gordo County, Iowa, to Helena (Krueger) and Richard Boettcher. He moved to Becker, Minnesota, with his family as an infant. in 1919, at the age of nine, he moved with his family to a farm in the town of Eagle Point. Alvin married Clarissa B. Schneider June 14, 1939, in Bloomer.

He farmed in the town of Eagle Point. until 1963. He was then greenskeeper at the Elks Country Club in Chippewa Falls. He was employed at Stelter Excavation for five years and then worked for Bill Lyberg Custom Homes, until he retired. He was a member of St.

John's Lutheran Church, Eagleton. Survivors include his wife, Clarissa of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Joyce (Bill) Lyberg of Chippewa Falls; a son, Robert (Judy) Boettcher of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Elsie Dallman of Chippewa Falls and Lorrene Meseke of Chicago; five grandchildren, Lisa Adams, Hans Lyberg, Bill Boettcher, Kristin Pedersen and Matt Lyberg; five greatgrandchildren, Brooke, Michael and Wesley Adams, and Will and John Lyberg; and nieces and nephews. Lee graduated from High School and Milwaukee Lutheran Nursing School. On April 23, 1960, Lee married Jerome "Romy" Brocker. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1999. Lee was a member of the Sheboygan County Visiting Nurses, former director of Nursing at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, former head of Occupational Health' Safety at JL French, Sheboygan. She was also a member of St.

John United Church of Christ in New Holstein, where she was a former President, a member of the Eaton Cemetery Association, Eaton Ladies Aid and Calumet County Master Gardeners. Lee gardening, restoring antique furniture, raising Welsh Corgis, walking, crafts of all kinds, and good conversation over a cup of coffee. Survivors include one son, Bruce (Donna) Brocker of Glendale; two grandchildren, Zachary and Michael; two brothers, Ron Petersen, Curt (Cindy) Petersen; one sister, Linda (John) Windjue; one brother-in-law, Ron Olsen; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Petersen. SWENSON, Clarence, 93, of rural Baldwin died Monday at Parkview Nursing Home in Woodville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rush River Lutheran Church, rural Baldwin, with burial in the church cemetery. 1960, returning then to the Stanley area. In 1986, they moved to Sunset Homes.

After Frank's passing, Rose remained there until 1994, when became a resident of Oakbrook Manori in Thorp. Besides her love family, she enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and especially her flowers. He was born October 8, 1919, Hampton, to Adolph and Wilemina Turek. He was preceded in death by father; mother; brother, Rudolph; and sister, Marcella, all of Hampton, Minn.

He is survived by his wife, Maeve; a sister, Dorothy of Red Wing, a brother, August (Mary) of Pearey, Arkansas; one soh, Joseph of Dresser; four daughters, Paulene of Seattle, Kathy and Brenda of Grantsburg and Karen (Richard) Wagner of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Ben, Christy, David, Tammy and Jessie; three great-grandchildren, Crystal, Kayla and Devin; many nieces, nephews and friends. Vivian Curran TAYLOR Vivian B. Curran, 86, of Taylor died Monday, September 30, 2002, at Pine View Care Center in Black River Falls. She was born October 9, 1915, in Hixton Township, Jackson County, Wisconsin, to parents Oswald and Blanche (Engleman) Schnick. She grew up in Shady Glen, graduated from Hixton High School and received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 1937. She married Roger Curran July 7, 1940, at her pafent's home in Shady Glen.

She taught Home Economics in Hixton, Alma Center and Melrose until retiring in 1968. She and Roger enjoyed farming and traveled throughout the United States until his death in 1974. She entered Pine View Care Center in 1999. Vivian was a member of United Methodist Church of Hixton. She served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and as an officer of the United Methodist Women and the Bible study group.

She was a life 1 long supporter of 4-H, serving as a leader for over -five years. The Jackson County Fair was one of her favorite events of each year. She was a 50-year member of the Jackson County Homemakers organization and a member of the Taylor Sunshine Homemakers group. Other memberships included the Bluebird Club, Taylor Senior Citizens and the Prime Time Club. For many years, she traveled with her family and friends and kept detailed journals of her travels.

She was happiest when she was at the cabin in Shady Glen, where she grew up. There, she could meet with family, walk the woods and study wildflowers. She also loved to sew and she made baby quilts for all her great-grandchildren. Vivian is survived by three sons, John (Gloria) Curran of Taylor, Dan (Shirley) Curran of Dodgeville and David (Myrna) Curran of -Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Jill (Pete) Noreen of Menomonie; one brother, Irvin (Babe) Schnick of Northfield; one sister, Opal Hauser of LaCrosse; thirteen grandchildren, Lori (Don) Olson, Vonnie (Dale) Peterson, Bruce (Sue) Curran, Chris Friends may call one half hour before services at the church. Alice was born May 19, 1921, in the town of Unity, Trempealeau to Angus and Blanche (Zimmerman) Elwood. She married Perry Severson July 24, 1942, in Pigeon Falls. Together they farmed in the town of Northfield, Jackson Co. until 1953, when they moved to Janesville. In 1976, they returned to the town of Northfield.

Alice enjoyed traveling and dancing.
