Independence Day — aka July 4 — the day synonymous with fireworks, is almost here. Following is a list of local fireworks shows, live music and other events taking place throughout the July 4 weekend:

4th of July Parade: 10:30 a.m. July 4 in downtown Hendersonville. Local organizations, classic cars, veterans and more.

Fourth of July Celebration: Begins at 5 p.m. July 4 in downtown Hendersonville. Food trucks, kids fun zone, music, fireworks at dusk. Visit hendersoncountync.gov/recreation.

Hendersonville Honeycrisps vs. Berkeley Spinners home game: 1-4 p.m. July 4, Berkeley Ball Park, 69 Balfour Road, Hendersonville. $10. Visit hendersonvillehoneycrisps.com.

Pendergrast Family Patriotic Pops concert: 2 p.m. July 4, Brevard Music Center, 349 Andante Lane, Brevard. Brevard Symphonic Winds joined by members of Janiec Opera Company perform inspirational American music, traditional Sousa marches and Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” complete with the sounds of live cannon. Live music from It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere: 7-9 p.m. July 4, Welcome Center Stage, 201 S. Main St., Hendersonville. Free.

4th of July at The Horse Shoe Farm: 5:30-11 p.m. July 4, 155 Horse Shoe Farm Drive, Hendersonville. Buffet style dinner featuring Low Country Boil, music, lawn games, bonfire, s’mores bar, fireworks. $90 excluding tax and service charge, $55 age 12 and younger, free age 3 and younger. Shindig on Main: 4-9:30 p.m. July 4, East Main Street, Brevard. Flag raising ceremony, reading of Declaration of Independence, music, dancing, food trucks, fireworks after dark launched from Brevard College campus.

Henderson County Heritage Museum celebration: 10 a.m. July 4, 1 Court House Square,Henderonville. Welcoming remarks, Pledge of Allegiance, music by Clifford Bishop Band, parade, free ice cream and water after parade, games and scavenger hunt on the lawn, museum open for tours.

DAR America 250 Patriots Marker Dedication: 1 p.m. July 4, Historic Henderson County Courthouse, downtown Hendersonville. The marker commemorates 250thanniversary of the United States.Unveiling of the marker will be by Cricket Crigler, State Regent of the North Carolina Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.The marker honors the men and women who achieved American independence. The names of the patriots buried in Henderson County being honored areWilliam Capps, John Peter Corn, William Sentell, Joseph Henry, James Johnson, Andrew Miller, Samuel King, Abraham Kuykendall, James Brittain, Jesse Rickman, Elijah Williamson, Rev. Independence Day Celebration Tailgate: 6-8:30 p.m. July 6, Prescott Auto Reserve, 37 Maxwell Drive, Hendersonville. Bring trash bags for you and/or your group. No alcohol. Sparklers are welcome anywhere on the lot. There will be a designated area for fireworks that "emit a shower of sparks." Hosted by South Asheville Cars & Coffee.

Coon Dog Day Festival and 5K race: 8 a.m. July 6. 5K and Kids One Mile Fun Run begins in McCreery Park near Main Street, Saluda. Packet pick up 4-7 p.m. July 5 at Saluda Visitor’s Center. After the race, stay for daylong festival with crafts, food, parade at 11 a.m., firefighter agility contest 1:30 p.m., Coon Hound dog show 2:30 p.m., music and dancing 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Lake Lure Community Independence Celebration: 6:30-9:30 p.m. July 6, Lake Lure Beach, 2724 Memorial Highway, Lake Lure. All-you-can-eat Southern cook-out with cash bar. Bring your beach blanket, chairs and swim floats. Swimming (lifeguard on duty) until 8 p.m., DJ and dancing until 9 p.m., fireworks at dusk. Lake Lure Beach and Water Park: Open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. through Aug. 11, then open weekends only Aug. 17-Sept. 2, 2724 Memorial Highway, Lake Lure. Closes at 4:30 p.m. on July 6. Water park area has a slide and water games. Pets not allowed. $10, $9 senior citizens, $8 age 4-12, free age 3 and younger and Lake Lure residents.

Henderson County offices close in observance of Independence Day:

Henderson County local government offices and agencies, including the Public Library, Animal Services (Animal Shelter), Solid Waste (Transfer Station and Convenience Center), and the Henderson County Courthouse will be closed on Thursday, July 4.

All Henderson County parks are open 365 days a year.

The delivery of emergency services will not be disrupted on July 4.
